The first time we met was at Freak Show 2001 in Tarboro, NC. We all had the pleasure of staying at the same roach motel. The plush accommodations included the dry swimming pool with an actual extension ladder in it, and the seemingly condemned building on the end, which didn’t look much worse off than the building we stayed in. I wonder if their club, Lowered Atmosphere, stayed in that other building the previous year! We didn't have to worry about security... we could barely get in the room WITH the key!
The lovely, WET weather pretty much killed the weekend’s fun. So, we met up again the next weekend, at Carolina Show-Off in Fayetteville, NC. It was a pleasure meeting Jesse & D'Ann. They’re a very nice couple, with a sweet car. The first thing that grabs your attention about the CRX is the paint. East Coast Custom Paint & Body did an excellent job on the body mod’s and laying the paint. The colors consist of Celestial Blue Pearl, Championship White, Honda Accord Plum, and Silver Dollar Coarse. |
As you check the car out more, you realize Jesse didn’t leave anything alone during the seven months of building. The Tanabe lowering kit brings it down to a tolerable level. Tucked underneath are 16” Momo ‘Super Lights’ and 215/40R16 Ohtsu 401 G tread. The Wings West ‘RS Series’ body kit smoothes out the bottom lines. This gives the illusion of an even lower stance, while adding performance by keeping more unwanted air from underneath the car. Wings West's ‘super wing' continues the racer theme to the rear.
NOPI’s ‘Dragon’ hood covers the lifeblood of this not-so-subtle competitor. The powerplant is a balanced and blueprinted JDM ZC DOHC 1.6-liter unit. |
